Annnnnd done. Nice to be able to read spoilers and other stuff now. This probably ranks up there as one of my favorite Zelda games, though I have some issues with it. Some people are really ignorant when they say that this is the same old Zelda formula. It does A LOT differently. And surprisingly, I think this is my favorite art style. I liked some of the advancements made in this game. And this was the best design for Zelda (the character) ever. Seriously.

I'm just kind of spewing up random thoughts right now, so I'll just keep quiet for a few days and let my mind simmer. :P

That escort mission isn't very difficult, more inconvenient really. Although Scrapper says he doesn't want the monsters to lay a single claw on him, he actually got hit several times when I did it, and although he complained a bit nothing actually happened. Soooo, yeah...

I liked the last dungeon too. When I saw the map, the first thing that came to mind was The Legend of Zelda on NES. The layout reminded of the dungeon maps from that game.

I honestly don't know where this game would fit among my favorite Zelda games. My biggest gripe with it is having to use the Motion Plus for everything. I really would rather have used the pointer to aim things like the slingshot, bow, clawshots, and gust bellows. I thought the Motion Plus as a whole didn't really make the experience any better, I could live without it. That aside, it probably has my favorite story and some of my favorite characters, and the dungeons were pretty fun, but I kinda wish the world was more connected. It felt kind of disjointed to have to go to the sky to get to another area. It's not a game I can see myself going back and playing too many times. I've played Ocarina of Time, Link's Awakening, and Twilight Princess quite a few times, but I'll probably play Skyward Sword much less, mostly due to the length of the game and all the stuff that takes place between dungeons.

My thoughts:

+ Best story in a Zelda game
+ Best graphics/art style
+ Best design for Zelda
+ Best music (orchestrated music went a long way for me and I really love the main theme)
+ Best use of controls overall
+ Some great dungeons
+ Some really great puzzles
+ Didn't mind returning to the first dungeon and found it kind of fun unlike most people!
+ Ghirahim was neat
+ Did a great job of blending puzzles into pre-dungeon content
+ Was surprised about how much I ended up liking Groose!
+ Liked new elements including the stamina meter and how you can run, climb quicker, etc.
+ Liked the upgrade system
+ Skyloft was full of life, people to see, and things to do.

+ / - What I found interesting is that a lack of a "true" overworld and how the areas weren't connected didn't bother me in the end. I also didn't mind the lack of a real day-night cycle even though I thought I would. Still, I think I'd like to see these two elements in Zelda Wii U.
+ / - Demise boss fight felt epic but was much easier than I expected. It was over in just a few minutes!

- Do we really need to use MotionPlus for everything? I hated the swimming controls and ultimately wasn't a fan of flying the bird with MotionPlus.
- Annoying parts in the game: Tadpole stuff, escort mission, things like that.
- Fi stunk (at least the theme music was enjoyable).

This game has to have my favorite design of all the games. I just wish it looked exactly like the artwork. That would be amazing.

I heard a few people complaining about the controls. Some said they were inaccurate, but I just did not see that. I liked the motion controls, and I would love to see Nintendo return to them. However, I do not think Nintendo should make them the standard for every console Zelda for now on.

When it comes to returning to dungeons, I do not mind it. It seems like a waste if you do everything to do in an area and never see it again. Nintendo did more than recycle areas. It added things, and I do not think people get that. It worked for Ocarina of Time. Nearly every place you had been to as a child is returned to as an adult, and it is slightly different from before, and you can explore it a little more. Skyward Sword did that on a grander scale.

My girlfriend loves Ghirahim. She has always been a huge David Bowie fan, and Ghirahim apparently reminds her of him with everything that he does and the way he looks. I like the villain, too. He is a breath of fresh air. I just wish he showed up outside of dungeons instead of in them. He filled spots where I would have preferred a traditional dungeon boss.

I said the same thing about Groose to some of my Zelda Wiki buddies. He is hilarious. I cannot wait to play the next title in The Legend of Groose series. We will travel around Grooseland through via Groosenator using a famous Groose maneuvers.

The Stamina Meter was a welcome addition. The game uses it so well and makes boring things like slowly climbing vines painless. Dashing makes perfect sense. I have always wanted a Pegasus Boot type ability in the Zelda games. I do not see anyone can travel faster by rolling.

Upgrades were great, but I prefer earning my upgrades through minigames and sidequests. Zelda need sidequests like in Majora's Mask that have a purpose, like helping Romani and Cremia.

Helping people out in Skyloft was the best part of the game. It had the types of sidequests I just described, but they felt so isolated. Only a few of the Gratitude Crystal quests were away from Skyloft.

I saw the Sky as a fluffier version of Hyrule Field. That is literally what it is. It connects all the locations, and you ride an animal to travel across it. I think too many people compared it to the Ocean in the Wind Waker; it is not as big, and it is emptier. When you think about it, though, the islands in the Wind Waker were pretty empty themselves. The overworld below the clouds was so much better than all those island, not to say that The Wind Waker had a terrible overworld. I missed the night/day sequences. I really wanted to see the world below the clouds at night.

I liked Demise. I just wish his appearance was not spoiled for me before I even played Skyward Sword. His resemblance to Ganondorf is uncanny. He only has darker, scalier skin and flaming red hair that is literally flaming to set them apart much. The boss fight with him was definitely easier than Ghirahim's, but I figured out a strategy that actually makes Ghirahim a breeze compared to Demise.

Swimming was not so bad, and I liked the bird, but it was no Epona.

The Tadtone bit was annoying. It had nothing to do with anything, considering that it was a test to see if Link deserved to hear a part of the Song of the Hero. At least the Eldin just gives it to you because you are clearly the hero, just as Faron already knew, and you save Lanayru's life. Faron was just bored and stupid, I guess. The escort mission sort of annoyed me, but at least defeated enemies did not reappear when I failed to protect that jerk robot.

I liked Fi. I liked her pseudo-sarcasm through the use of statistics.

Controls were mostly great. There were a few times were I could have sworn I swung one way, but Link's sword didn't go where I expected it would.

Yeah. Only thing about the stamina meter is that I wished we could have expanded it somehow. Sometimes it seemed too short... and it is a little odd how Link gets winded so quickly. :P [/quote]

Eh... After Midna, who I loved, Fi was a disappointment. She just seemed like a very dull character. I know that's sort of what the developers were going for, but I had no attachment to her whatsoever. Fi was just kind of there for me.

Just the fuzzy feeling of knowing you helped someone in need is reward enough for me.

Fi had absolutely ZERO character development until the ending cut-scene and even then it just seemed tacked on to add at least one touchy-feely moment between Link and Fi. I was expecting (or rather hoping) to see a drastic change in her character over the course of the game, even if it's the cliche robot-begins-to-develop-human-emotions thing. But nope, robot all the way through. You know the character fails when characters like Groose and Ghirahim are more likable. But seriously, how can anyone compete with someone with dance moves like his? Fi's figure skating doesn't even compare.

Oh man. The Ghirahim dance was incredible. When I first saw it, I was wondering what the heck was going on. But yeah, it was funny and awesome!

There is a 95% chance Fi's dialogue is predictable, boring and never in the least bit interesting, always pointing out obvious things.

I really dig Fi's design. Problem is the character itself. She's too much. I remember the part in the Ancient Cistern dungeon when you go down to the lowest level and you see the Big Boss key. "There's a probability that the key needed to open the door........". What the? I just saw it, no need to mention it. Plus, the way she sings is really awkward/weird.

Again, I wanna state that this boss is one of the best in the Zelda series.

95%!? It's 100-friggin'-percent!

I wholeheartedly agree. It don't think it quite trumps Goht as my favorite, but it certainly pulls ahead of Stallord as my second.

That whole dungeon was the full package, it may be my favourite Zelda dungeon ever. I guess it didn't have enough battles or new creatures for that, but the design itself was flawless.

Yeah, that was a great dungeon and boss. Probably my favorite of the game.

Random thought: I loved the ending credits:

Although I still think I like Twilight Princess' credits just a bit more.

My ranking as well. I didn't mind Navi, honestly. I know a lot of people hated her, but I didn't mind her much. But Midna is definitely the best out of the three!

Agreed. I'll always favor the one who's actually a character and not just a voice that tells you what to do.

I'm on the same page as you, Valay. I never really found Navi annoying. Her "Hey" and "Listen" and Watch out" just became a normal part of the experience for me. The only part where I find her annoying is in the first five minutes of the game. She chimes in telling you that you need to go see the Great Deku Tree within a minute of actually controlling Link, even though it's physically impossible to get there that quickly.
