Monster Hunter Tri

Postby Skawtz0rz » Tue Aug 16, 2011 6:01 pm

So I finally decided to get it a few days ago, and to my surprise I have spent quite a lot of time on it. The only thing is since the game is quite old there's basically no one on anymore. Shame the servers are region locked, I'm always stuck playing with French or German people mostly that don't understand what I say.

So any tips helpful hints for a n00b hunter? =P

This is one of the best Wii games ever, but starts very slow and does not really explain much. So The Monster Hunter Wikia will be very helpful, but is full of spoilers.

It sucks that the servers are region locked, because I would love to play with you.
The NA servers are also getting less populated, but its not that hard to find someone to play with.

Also what monsters have you killed so far?

The large/boss type monsters I've killed so far are:

A great Jaggi
Qurupeco
Royal Ludroth
Barroth

Only managed the Great Jaggi solo so far though, everything else was with help. Would have been really good to get a game with you. Thanks for the link ^^. I'm also working towards full Barroth armour.

When you get to the Barroth the monsters start getting better.

The Barroth armor is a good set. It has....
    Attack Up (S) -> Raises attack a little.
    Adrenaline +1 -> Greatly increases defense when HP is below 40%.
    Marathon Runner -> Running and swimming use less stamina.
    Critical Eye -1 -> Chance of critical hits -5%

Also my new character is currently wearing a full Barroth armour.

Just stayed up all night playing with another scotsman and an aussie. Got full barroth armour with 2 attack gems an an expert gem. Critical eye -1 is now gone and attack is (m) instead of (s). Really like this game :)

Thats what most people do with that armor.
What weapons do you use?

Yeah I remember playing with you, it was fun.
My internet sucks too and I used to get disconnected a lot, but I restarted my router and it seems to be fine now.

@Ronin
I'm using a Great Sword right now but I'm saving up materials to upgrade all different weapon types. I really want to use a long sword when I unlock them, they look bad ass. HR 12 now lol I should really do more singleplayer :P.

@thomas
Yes. Yes you should xD.

I only use the Sword & Shield, since it has fast movement, I hate moving slow. I did try Long Swords before, but never kept using them due to not having a shield.

Also I never did finish the singleplayer, just kept playing online.

The single player is one of the most unforgiving and hard games I have ever play. Its better to play online and when you are strong return to the campaign.

Yeah, some monsters can be hard alone, but online monster are stronger. They get even harder when you get to the high rank matches(HR 30+).

Yeah I think the main reason I went online is because I couldn't beat the Qurupeco on my own which i can do now after all the online grinding.

I'll still use them too, like I said I want to use all different weapons but I want the great sword or long sword to be my weapon of choice. Much more powerful and they can still block. It was just taking too long to kill things with a S&S, although I may switch back when I get a much better upgraded one.

You're making me feel like playing Monster Hunter Tri again, especially now I actually know at least one person who uses the European servers.
