Nintendo’s latest trademark attempt shot down

Posted on December 1, 2008 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii

In March of this year, Nintendo attempted to trademark the term “Wii Remote.” Since then, the latest news is that Nintendo’s application is currently suspended, as the word “remote” is too general to warrant a trademark. The United States Patent and Trademark Office hasn’t completely denied all chances of allowing the company to trademark “Wii Remote,” though more work would be necessary for success. One would assume that Nintendo would attempt to trademark Wiimote or something similar, but the company was recently entangled with an issue from Fobis Technologies stemming from the word “Weemote.”
