Dragon Quest IX will be marketed heavily in North America and Europe
November 3rd, 2009 Posted in DS, News, Written by AustinAfter the smashing success of Dragon Quest IX in Japan (selling over 3m copies within the first couple of weeks), it’s no surprise that both Square Enix and Nintendo want the game to fare just as well overseas. Because of this, Nintendo has announced plans to work with Square Enix on the marketing for the game in North America and Europe. This may prove difficult however, as Dragon Quest games have not sold so well in the past overseas. Hopefully things will change this time around, because IX looks to be one of the better entries to the series!
In addition, Miyamoto expressed interest in the “Passerby Mode” from Dragon Quest, stating that he would be interested in creating a game around that feature for people to play outside of the house.

That is good to hear, as I felt that franchises like Dragon Quest needs to be marketed more. It would be interesting to see whether the DLC that is current found in the Japanese version will make its way overseas, such as special guests (e.g. Angelo from Dragon Quest VIII).

It really makes me happy to see how far Nintendo and Square Enix has gone with the success of the DQ(Dragon Quest)series. Lately I keep hearing all these news about how hard Nintendo tries to marketing the DQ games outside of Japan. They really do like DQ over any other of Square Enix’s IP’s(including Final Fantasy). Thats at least the impreesion I get from everything I have read.
This makes me sure that Slime is/should be the top choice for a playable SE character for SSB4.
Slime happens to be one of my 4 picks for a SE-rep:(in order)
-Slime
-Black Mage(FF)
-Moogle(FF)
-White Mage(FF)
