Reggie: Zelda Wii will be released when it is perfect

January 11th, 2010 Posted in News, Wii, Written by Valay

Last week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated that the next Zelda title for Wii will be released this year. While that still may be the case, don’t expect the title to ship until it’s perfect. That’s what Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO of Nintendo of America, had to say about Zelda Wii when he was asked about it on the latest episode of Nintendo Week. You can watch the entire interview on the Nintendo Channel, but we’ve posted Fils-Aime’s remarks concerning Zelda Wii below.

“Right now, it’s still in development, but the key message that Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Aonuma is telling us is that it really has to be perfect when it launches. That really is what the Zelda fan is expecting. So for all those Zelda fans out there right now, what I would say is, enjoy Spirit Tracks and know that the Zelda title for Wii will come out when it’s perfect.”

Well you know what that means?! It’ll probably will be 100% be delayed at least once; & into 2011 I bet! Thats Satoru Itawa; but thanks for the promise anyways… seeing Zelda Wii at E32010 is all I want so far! ;)

Like I said before, it won’t be out this year. That statement is just to soften us up for the official delay announcement, post E3.

personally i think it’ll be released in 2011. i think Iwata was talking about a Japan release for 2010.

Seeing as I’ve never seen a perfect video game, that seems like a silly statement. I actually don’t need a perfect Zelda game. What I really want is a Zelda game that takes a few more risk, rather than just rehashing the same old formula. Personally I still haven’t managed to complete Twilight Princess, because the game was so similar to previous titles that it felt completely stale. I’m sorry but the series hasn’t evolved much over the past 10 years, and that makes me sad.
