Iwata wants high resolution graphics/motion sensor for next DS, assures Zelda Wii release this year, and more

Iwata spoke with the Asahi Shimbun in a recent interview and spoke about a number of topics from the next DS to Zelda Wii. We’ve summed up the information below.

Next DS

- Iwata wants high resolution image output, motion sensor
- Won’t discuss any sort of time frame for release
- “DS saw its highest sales in North America in 2009″

Current DS

- Iwata interested in expanding partnership with McDonalds to other shops

Wii

- Iwata says Wii “has started to accelerate again”
- “In North American and Japan, we recorded the highest system sales for the past three years.”
- Games for the Wii Vitality Sensor will be announced in July, wants to release it as soon as possible
- Iwata also says Zelda Wii will be released before the end of 2010

    OMG I think I shit myself when he talked about the New DS, and then I think i shit myself again with Zelda and THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!! OMG NEW DS AND ZELDA FOR THE END OF THIS YEAR!!! ITS OVER!!!

    High resolution imaging sounds great, but I don’t know how I feel about motion sensing… If I was playing in public, I wouldn’t want to be seen wiggling around with my DS. O_o I don’t even like using the mic in public (although right now, it dosen’t interpret anything except blowing…)

    But YAY ZELDA. I can’t wait for this year’s E3. ^^

    Can’t wait to see the first footage and get that tingly feeling :D Speaking of which, Tingle must be in the game.

    DSmotion would be cool, as long as it still has buttons, allowing us to play normal games.

    With what he said about Zelda, everything else he said seems worthless. lol

    Though I agree with thomas, and anyone who anticipated Twilight Princess will, I hope it is released this year!

    We must remember, for what we know this game might be nearly finished and Nintendo is still acting like is far from being finished.

    I’m also SUPER EXCITED to hear this INCREDIBLE ZELDA Wii 2010 info!!! My hopes & prayers will probably be answered after all for a 2010 release! I SOOO HOPE Nintendo makes it happen; “PRETTY PLEASE” were the first words I said to myself when while saying that LOL! ;)

    So Nintendo has their work cut out for them; & hopefully this next E3 for 2010 will be one to remember! I mean it’ll be the first E3 since 2006′s E3 to be 100% PERFECT! Imagine’s that first awesome Zelda Wii trailer; like Miyamoto did when he announced Zelda Twilight Princess way back in 2004! :D

    Also I still highly doubt it; but I probably won’t be worried if Zelda Wii at least gets delayed into 2011! Nintendo’s/Miyamoto’s Zelda team needs to take all of their sweet time to make the game! But it’s an amazing thought they want to so badly try to push it for a 2010 release! :D

    2010 will be another year to remember I tell you; with these games to look forward to:
    ZELDA WII
    SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2
    METROID OTHER M

    Holy crap, did you see that: “high resolution image OUTPUT” I hope that means it will get a connection for a HDTV just like the E3 demo machines. I generally don’t like any handhelds because playing on such a small screen just feels so damn lonely. This would finally change that, no longer would I have to miss half of all Nintendo games.
