Zelda Wii doesn’t have a defined graphical style yet

December 15th, 2009 Posted in News, Wii, Written by Valay

When Shigeru Miyamoto showed off the Zelda Wii artwork of Link at E3, the style of that image alone led many to believe that the next Zelda adventure would possess realistic graphics similar to that of Ocarina of Time. However, when all is said and done, it’s possible that the game could sport an entirely new look all together.

In the latest edition of the Official Nintendo Magazine, Eiji Aonuma spoke about Zelda Wii. One of the more significant things he said is that the development team has yet to decide on the game’s graphics. According to Aonuma, while he hinted at them being realistic, he noted that Zelda Wii could have a new style that we haven’t seen in the series up to this point.

Maybe it’ll be in a Wii Sports style, and with Mii’s.

According to ign’s interview with the zelda team the next one will be similar to twilight princess in terms of appearence. Now I am confused. I wonder how it will be different?

They didn’t use the word appearance, nor did they mention visuals.

im confused, ign or onm didnt mention it?

Don’t worry about it guys, they are only talking about the graphical style, not the graphics as in realism. It’s going to look similar to Twighlight Princess, but maybe the way fire, other elements, and a bunch of other things might look different. Trust me everyone, they are not going to make the graphical design look like Wind Waker. That would turn away the hardcore in a way that will reduce sales and appeal for the game tremendously from the hardcore gamers.

Hey buddy, I loved wind waker. I don’t want this next Zelda to be in the wind waker style, but I wouldn’t mind seeing another cell-shaded console zelda down the road.

Windwaker’s visual style was praised high above the other Zeldas’.

However it may look, I’m sure it’ll be a great game.

I hope this Zelda doesn’t dissapoint me. I’m a HUGE Nintendo fan, but my faith in them have been shattered by low quality titles. Smash Bros Wii has a piece of you know what and I still play my Gamecube game on the Wii. The Xbox 360 is what the Nintendo 64 was for me great shooters, multiplayer, awesome graphics, good action-rpg’s. What happened to that Nintendo. I still feel wrong when I needed to turn to Microsoft for RARE games. But the quality of RARE is as low as Nintendo’s. I wish Nintendo would just compete for us the hardcore. By the way I have all the current gen systems, but my PS3 is mostly used to watch Blu-ray movies. I did play Uncharted 2, but got over that. Good game though. Nothing beats the Xbox for the real hardcore gamers, sad but true. I wish I could say this for Nintendo like I did in the Nintendo 64 era. I’m 25 years old, so maybe it’s that I don’t like cartoon characters anymore. I don’t know, but I enjoyed Goldeneye and Perfect Dark back then. Now is Halo and Gears of War. Fable, Fallout and Oblivion replaced Zelda. But nothing replaces Mario Kart. I hope ModNation Racer doesn’t do that for me, because Mario Kart is all I have from Nintendo now.

I’m not saying that Wind Waker isn’t a good game. Just wasn’t something a lot of the hardcore Zelda fans liked. I wouldn’t mind a cell shaded Zelda either, but I’m done with childish stuff, I want to see a more mature Zelda like the way Twilight Princess looks like and I’ll be happy.

Rayan, Brawl>>>>>>>>Melee. I’ve played them both, and the only thing in Melee that is better than Brawl is Mewtwo. And Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game, but I don’t really care how amazing the graphics are. It could look super-realistic and I wouldn’t like it any more. Zelda Wii=Twilight Princess(on steroids)

Ya… I don’t see how Melee is better than Brawl in any way… And Kslay, Wind WAker is not “childish” in any way. The best words for it are “beautiful”, “perfect”, “masterpiece”, and “best Zelda game”. Yes, it is better than OoT by a longshot (no pun intended). Well… I guess it ties with TP, but that’s not my point. I’m sorry, but the word “mature” when referring to video games does NOT mean it is ultra gory, has excessive nudity, has big muscular heroes who mow down zombies with gigantic guns, or is entirely in shades of gray. WW has some very “mature” themes in it even though the main characters are children (have you even seen Ganon?? He is MUCH better than in any other Zelda) Same goes for you rayan and your definition of “hardcore”. WW was EXTREMELY hardcore.

As long as it looks like OoT/TP and enhanced to the max, I’ll be happy!

I loved WW, but cartoony Zelda is already on DS.
It’s time to show Wii can deliver in the graphics department too.
Which is why a very mature Zelda is in order.
And by “mature” I don’t mean blood, gore, sexual themes, ect.
Mature has a real definition, you know.
