Miyamoto on the stutter in New Super Mario Bros. Wii’s multiplayer
November 25th, 2009 Posted in News, Wii, Written by Valay“We had a lot of debate about that. There were points in the project where there was no delay at all, but that wound up encouraging players to concentrate on themselves instead of the team. If there’s that little stutter, that makes everyone say to each other ‘Oh, nice, you screwed up!’, and that’s what I wanted to see.” – Shigeru Miyamoto
I’ve actually read/heard that the stutter can be a big problem in some instances and that it can lead to some undesired results while playing. What do you guys think?

Played two player with my girlfriend yesterday. She picked up a mushroom while I was half way through a jump. The “stutter” made me fall in the lava.

The same thing that happened to Gavin more or less happened to me as well. Lack of stutter would have been appreciated.

I think that there should have been an option to turn on or off the stutter

They could’ve just done a sound effect instead…
it seems like a rather silly flaw (very un-Nintendo like) on an otherwise awesome game

Been playing with four people a lot and it hasn’t affected me or any of my friends in the slightest.

Hasn’t affected me either. The multiplayer is still a blast to play.

I agree with thomas.
I also want to add, aside from not being able to use Yoshis in more levels, this stutter is my other complaint.
Is not like because of this the multiplayer is screwed, but it does cost lives from time to time which makes it annoying.
