Nintendo to finally introduce first demos of WiiWare games
November 3rd, 2009 Posted in News, Wii, Written by ValayNintendo has been well-known for its lack of enthusiasm when it comes to game demos. However, it looks as though Nintendo may be changing its tune. At the most recent Q&A session of Nintendo’s Semi-annual Financial Results Briefing, company president Satoru Iwata indicated that demos of upcoming WiiWare titles will be introduced. And in fact, Iwata hinted that gamers may even see the first demos sometime this month. This is sort of an experiment for now, though, and and it isn’t entirely clear if Nintendo will continue to release additional demos.
The president hopes that this move will encourage Wii owners to become more involved with the Wii Shop Channel. Iwata told investors at the Q&A sessions that sales of digital downloads haven’t been a huge hit yet.

Demos are a great idea. Nintendo is late to the party as usual, but better late than never I say.

Oh wow it’s about time. I’ll finally have a reason to use shop channel.

Better late than ever; but I still hate the Shop Channel for there never are anymore first party Nintendo titles coming out! Namely SSB64 for GOD SAKES!! GRR; yes NOA you still missed a lot of opportunities to releases it in NA… namely April 27th (it’s anniversary) & September 7th (labor day)!!
And demo’s won’t help change anyone’s mind on the Wii Shop Channel; unless if Nintendo also does it for VC games as well! I say this because we all know WiiWare is 90% FULL of SHOVELWARE!!!
So unless Nintendo doesn’t do it for VC games as well; then they won’t ever get any demo play; or money for wii points from me ever again!!!
But if demos were also for VC; then that would be the perfect excuse for trying all of those Genesis & TG16 games I’d likely want to add to my collection!

Ok this is cool news! I’m hoping for an Excitebike demo! but at the same time i’m a little disappointed, I want demos of games you buy in the stores, and sorry josh I don’t quite agree, although having VC demos would be nice, I think they should worry more about selling their new games rather than their old games.

Wait….demos for wiiware games? Aren’t most wiiware games only a couple of hours long? What they need are demos for the real games coming out. I want a demo for The Conduit, A Boy and his Blob, and Dead Space: Extraction.

OH COME ON… any hardcore gamer who has been whinning & complaining for demos for the past 3 years, since the Wii came out; have too so badly been wanting demos for VC games!

There should be Demo’s required for everything including…
- Retail Games
- Virtual Console Games
- WiiWare Games
- DS & DSi Games
It’s only going to help sales if the game is good. Also at one point or another in the future every game will be required to have Demo’s so I don’t know why they don’t do it now while they are bringing there games out rather than when it will be forced on them.

About time I say.
Adding demos is a step in the right direction Nintendo, you better try taking a few more in the near future.
HOWEVER, we should keep in mind that this is just a test Nintendo is doing and if it doesn’t work out then bye-bye demos.

I don’t know about retail games but I agree with VC games,WiiWare and DS/DSiware games.

Finally. Now the next step should be demos for retail games. That way I could end up buying third party games. Nintendo quality I can trust, others need proof.
