Rumor: Another Mario game in the works
October 17th, 2009 Posted in News, Wii, Written by ValayNew Super Mario Bros. Wii is scheduled to ship next month in North America/Europe. Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be out some time next year. However, there may be some sort of additional Mario game in development. Charles Martinet, the voice behind Mario, apparently posted the following messages on his Twitter.
“- Mama Mia!!!! I’m going to Seattle this week to record a new Mario game! Woo Hooo!!!!! I can hardly wait!!!!1
- Big day tomorrow! Seattle for a new Mario game! Yippee!!! And just as a joke, it’s going to rain….in San Francisco tomorrow!
- Awesome new Mario Game! And it’s not NSMB Wii, and it’s not Galaxy 2, but it’s going to be crazy fun!”
The only reason why I’m skeptical about this is because the account isn’t 100% confirmed to be Charles Martinet. Although, if it’s true, this could mean that he’s busy with a new Mario Party game, sports game, or something else entirely.

New Mario Party? New Smash Bros Game? New Mario Kart game? Super Mario Bros. remake? What could it be? I don’t know but I’m excited that Nintendo is this busy with so many different titles in developement right now!

In a side note:
I have Charles Martinet’s and “Mario’s” signature on a baseball as a promotional item during the release of “Super Sluggers”.
If you see this guy at a bar and he’s had few drinks in him, you can get him to say some pretty unsuitable and hilarious things in his “Mario” voice!

There is no way Charles Martinet would use the “!!!1″ deal. He’s way too classy.

If this is real, I hope its not just a DS game.

I bet its either:
-a Mario Party 9(its been a while since we had one of those games, save for MP DS)
-a new Mario Strikers/Football(the only Mario sport series I truly like and thinks its awesome, hope its this one)
-a new Mario Tennis/Golf game(probably not since Nintendo put all thier focus on the Wii sports games and Camelot seems to have lost interest in the Mario Tennis/Golf games but who knows)
-a new Mario Baseball/Sluggers game(just a guess,I dunno,not something I see can as “awesome” or “crazy fun”)
-a Mario Hoops 3-on-3 sequel(doubt it,but I did find this game actually quite fun and good, wouldn’t mind a sequel,if SE have time for it)
-a Paper Mario 4(possible,its a good time now for Intelligent Systems to start working on this one)
But if this new game is actually another full-fledged plattformer game then that’s neat too.

Whoops. I made a pretty obvious typo in my previous post. See if you can spot it.

Yet ANOTHER Mario game?
Nintendo, like, hello? What about your other franchises (Besides Zelda, Pokémon and Metroid)? Star Fox, F-Zero, Pikmin, Kid Icarus, Ice Climber, Donkey Kong, Yoshi?

If you look on his twitter OMN commented on it saying good luck so this might be the real deal

Benjamin Lopez: Shouldn’t Ice Climber count as a individual game? And what about Kirby?Though I suppose HAL should be blamed for not doing anything with the Wii game, just asking.

Oh whoopee. If it’s not a 3D platformer count me out. I am so mortified by all the freaking spin-off titles that I just can’t take anymore of that crap. Let’s see how Nintendo screws this one up. Mario Party 99 or maybe Mario Teaches Typing 2. MAYBE MARIO’s SEX VIAGRA MARATHON ( thank you for whoever made this joke previously on a different website). I can’t take anymore Mario Kart, please rid the world of the sports series, the party games are lame. Stick to adventures. That’s what made Mario the best. That’s what will keep him the best. If you ask me, whch you won’t, an epic 3D open world, deep story Mario platformer is really what we need. That’ll really drop the bomb on other franchises, raise the bar a little. I’ve got the perfect idea for the game and have worked out all the kinks. Martinet, you better be recording for another good game and not some disappointment.
