MH3 team planned on making “the most beautiful game on the Wii” from the very beginning

October 29th, 2009 Posted in News, Wii, Written by Valay

Without a doubt, Monster Hunter 3 is  one of the best looking (if not the best) games on the Wii. You may remember that the visuals even manged to impress the Zelda team. Creating the most beautiful title on the Wii was a goal from the very start of development, as Monster Hunter 3 producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, explains:

“We had planned out from the onset to make Monster Hunter Tri the most beautiful game on the Wii. We feel that we’ve taken a lot of time actually to make the graphics as good as they are. We’ve received a lot of good feedback from Japanese users and also from overseas users that definitely for a Wii game this is the best graphics they’ve seen.”

This is basically the kind of attitude more developers should have about the system, instead of treating it like something sub-PS2, tech-wise, as many of them do. As this, Extraction, and others have reminded, the Wii can pull off some competitively gorgeous graphics when developers and publishers take the Wii as seriously as the other two.

Graphics honestly aren’t a big deal for me, but I can’t help but take a step back when I look at Monster Hunter 3’s visuals. They’re truly impressive.

And hey there, Ponkotsu – Great to see you back here!

Not only Capcom wants to make Monster Hunter 3 graphically attractive, it needs to do something with the game that will mimic the success and critical reception in Japan. At least Capcom is considering Wii Speak and forgoing online fees for the Western release.

This game was made right, unlike most Wii games. They pushed the game to the limits and took a succesfull game and forged it on a Nintendo home console. Are you other 3rd party developers listening? This game does look amazing and Valay your right graphics aren’t everything, but in this game maybe they are, maybe this is the game that needed to be good looking to push others to do the same !

Hey Valay, I’ve been focused on a few other things lately and kinda out of step with the latest gaming news, but I’m not disappearing, no worries. I just need to set aside an hour or two to fully catch up and drop some more comments. :)

If that was what they set out to do, they did it!

This game will probably beat even some of Nintendo’s “Critically Acclaimed” games.

WOW! Truely amazing! I have been trying to explain to my friends that the Wii is more about fun and not graphics, but graphics do certainly make it more appealing…and when i saw this vid i was like: “let me guess…another Xbox 360 vid of an awesome game” then i read the info and was like AWESOME! See the Wii CAN have awesome graphics…and i wish other developers asides from HVS, Capcom and Nintendo would relise this and make some GOOD games :D
