The Conduit slammed in early preview/score

April 13th, 2009 Posted in News, Wii, Written by Valay

Gamereactor published a “preliminary analysis” article on The Conduit and essentially slammed the game with a tough score. The magazine gave the game a 2/5 rating, but again, this is based on a preview build. Gamereactor criticized The Conduit for having a weak storyline while also ragging a bit on the game’s controls. Full machine-translated article after the break.

Graphic push-ups

Hercules is the terrorist in High Voltage action game ..

Or no, not Hercules – but Kevin Sorbo played Hercules in just the kalkonkultiga TV series Hercules: The Legendary Jouners.

Sorbo will assume the role of the terrorist Prometheus in The Conduit, information which you may interpret as you wish. Sobbe may turn the company of other “known” actor, Mark Sheppard, who actually was in the wonderful series Firefly one time, so pure disaster need not be.

Well there is actually a game to talk about also. A quick look shows that The Conduit purely visually reminiscent of Metroid Prime for a bad day. Operating see it not better, even if the High Voltage like bragging about his advanced Quantum3 engine that they developed specifically in order to raise the standards of Nintendo little white bestseller.

But as we know, not all the graphics and there are more games to the Nintendo Wii that deliver unbeatable entertainment without needing the latest technology monsters to sit on.

The Conduit game controller, something that has been to say the least, inadequate to many first person shooter for Wii. The Conduit will support online gaming and offers death matches, an initiative many action sugna Wii owners will be pleased – many of us from the editors included.

Until the High Voltage convinced me with (hopefully) upputsad review version so I select that for the moment remain more skeptical lawful. A better game control and a good storyline would save The Conduit to be even, a gray and generic and boring action games in the crowd.

    translated.

anyway “The magazine gave the game a 2/5 rating, but again, this is based on a preview build. Gamereactor criticized The Conduit for being generic and gray while also ragging a bit on the game’s controls.”

LOL. its like failing a passed subject. get a life gamereactor.
“im gonna fail you because i don’t like you!”

lol the game sucks. it sucks the moment it was pitched. lmao the devs must’ve been former sony devs

  5. By nerubii on Apr 21, 2009

    @mr.dick

well i’m glad to hear that the game can hold up to a company as big as Sony. =D

so the game sucks as hard as Sony right?

    LOL’d

Well Gamereactor did not review the game to 2/5 they simply ranked the wanting level more ore less.

bt Gamereactor are graphic freaks so it don´t matter if the story och gameplay i superb they only like graphic

  7. By Roheart on Apr 21, 2009

This is not a review of the conduit. It is, however, a preview of the game with the score representing the overall impression of the unfinished game. The actual reviews by the gamereactor staff is scored on a scale from 1 to 10, which is further broken up into game qualities such as gameplay, replayability and so on.

  8. By Valay on Apr 21, 2009

I thought I made it pretty clear that this wasn’t a final review score – But, yes, it is a preview build score/preliminary analysis score.

  9. By URMRGAY on Apr 21, 2009

Well, 2/5 its not bad, its the average score of wii games :)

  10. By nerubii on Apr 21, 2009

yeah. it is clear so a failed analysis? what do you think?

This translation is terrible. Here’s a real, personal translation from me – A swede:

    “Graphical Situp

Hercules becomes a terrorist in High Voltage’s new action game…

Or, no, wait, not Hercules – But, Kevin Sorbo, who used to play Hercules in the super cult-classic tv-series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Sorbo will be playing the role of the terrorist Prometheus in The Conduit, you can take this information any way you want. Sorbo will, thankfully, get accompanied by other “famous” actors like Mark Sheppard, who was in the wonderful series Firefly once upon a time, so it doesn’t have to spell disaster.

Anyway, we have a game to talk about, too. A quick look shows you that The Conduit, visually, reminds of Metroid Prime having a bad day. In motion, it doesn’t look much better, even though High Voltage like to boast about their advanced Quantum 3-engine that they’ve developed specifically to enhance the graphical standards on Nintendo’s little white super-seller.

But as we all know, graphics aren’t everything, and there are several games for the Nintendo Wii that deliver unbeatable entertainment without needing to rely on the latest technology. Meaning that a lot hangs on how well-developed the controls for The Conduit are, something that’s been, to say the least, lacking in most first-person shooters for the console. The Conduit will support online play, and gives you deathmatches, an initiative a lot of actionhungry Wii-owners will be happy about – Several of us here at the magazine included.

Until High Voltage has convinced me with a (hopefully) polished review version I’m choosing to, for now, stay highly skeptical. Better controls and a good story can hopefully save The Conduit from becoming another grey, generic and boring actiongame amongst the others.”

ic. so you mean the version they have is the version with sucky controls and bad storyline or short storyline? :)

  13. By Valay on Apr 21, 2009

That translation is much appreciated, Majin. Makes things much clearer.

  14. By Nintendo360 on Apr 21, 2009

    game looks like crap anyway

  15. By Used Cisco on Apr 21, 2009

I’ve been worried about this game from the beginning. But I’m hopeful it will be a fun shooter. There’s not many of those on the Wii, so it doesn’t have to compete with and Halos or CoD4s.

  16. By James on Apr 21, 2009

Their was an article on IGN about the story, and they said it’s more in depth than it looks. also one preview said the only problem with the controls was turning fast, but High Voltage said they’re considering adding a 180-degree turn button which would fix that.

  17. By nerubii on Apr 21, 2009

it was easy to see through their intention of the score or rating.

  18. By zilla73 on Apr 21, 2009

After reading this article,I feel my IQ just dropped a little. The lack of the letter S on every plural word and the other jumbled words gave me a headache. I was looking forward to seeing how the game(Conduit) does, but I guess I’ll wait for a decent review or preview from a better known website.

  19. By blazed on Apr 21, 2009

thats so stupid how the hell can they give a review of a preview… gamereactor you failed wit this article… to tell you the truth i never pay attention to reviews anymore because the majority of reviewers are fanboys of some console and will bash a competitors game…

  20. By Leg3nd on Apr 21, 2009

It must be noted, one look at the game, its trailer, and at best u think B grade game, nothing more than a 3, at worst, its a sucky game cause the graphics arent anywhere near next gen, gameplay looks original cant say much bout that, and story is going to be bad considering its a shooter. Fanboyism is everywhere, but professional fanboys dont discredit a good game, they just says its good but i’ve seen better. in this case-should gamereactor be labeled fanboys is better left in the realm of speculation-they have clearly stated, the game is not good.

  21. By ROB on Apr 22, 2009

    ” but professional fanboys ”

    Wait…pro-fanboys?
    *can’t stop laughing*

  22. By Nath on Apr 22, 2009

what the hell was that? what a load of bollox i could not understand a single word, when the game is actually released we will see how good it is.

  23. By Wiisuck on Apr 22, 2009

Yet another bag of fail for the Wii. All of these consoles sold with no games to play.

  24. By Wiisoileau on Apr 22, 2009

I couldn’t agree more. Why people buy the Wii or how they could be Nintendolt fanboys is beyond me.

  25. By Lololo on Apr 22, 2009

This is full of fail so badly. Bad controls? YOU CAN FUCKING CUSTOMIZE THEM. Stop beeing snobbish Xbox playboys like the above poster and stop hating on a game that hasn’t been released yet.

  26. By Wii'smiserable on Apr 23, 2009

Sorry Lololo, another high profile title that is not a rehashed Nintendo franchise will fail miserably. Even if it were a 10 (which it won’t be) nobody would buy it. They’d rather be playing something lame.

Oh, and just b/c you can customize controls doesn’t meant they aren’t responsive or bad. Face it, your Gamecube, her um, Wii Waggle Cube is a slender pile of trash.

    :sorry:

IT IS NOT A RATING! For Christ sakes, those of us who actually can read the magazine and not only the crappy google-translation know.

IT IS NOT A RATING! It’s an expectation-meter, showing how much THIS PARTICULAR reviewer looks forward to this game, based on what he writes.

It’s not a final review. Besides, how many of you people have actually TRIED the game? Anybody else is not really entitled to an opinion about how the game plays, are they?

  28. By sean g on Jun 22, 2009

ahh jesus christ… you know that all of these “reviews and previews” are fakes, right? hell, even one guy who EVERYONE thought was really a Nintendo Power editor, said it was a fake… to “teach us a lesson”… get a life people! ratings dont matter. play the game for your self!
